The Boston Celtics took the floor at their home TD Garden for the 5th of their 7th straight home game stint. The Celtics started the game in early season form by going 5-6 from behind the arc and finishing the quarter 8-13, a causal 61%.
As the Bucks and Celtics prepared for what would be their second consecutive Christmas spectacular, I'm not sure anyone but the Celtics knew was in store for their fans, on what would become a special outing for the team. Both teams played well in the first half, the Celtics successfully limited any major outbursts from Giannis while the Jays stayed calm, cool and collected. The first half ended in a 2 point deficit in favor of the Celtics.
As the second half got underway, it was clear that the Celtics were prepared to go the distance and were not going to back down, or fear any deer in sight. While continuing to stay hot from three point land, the Celtics also landed a few fun highflying finishes over some of the leagues best rim protectors. Jayson Tatum stamped a huge exclamation point on Giannis's head off of a sweet give and go with Marcus Smart.
Jayson Tatum once again showed the world why he is at the top of the MVP leaderboard, especially when matched up against who people call the best player in the world right now, Giannis Antetokounmpo. JT provided a masterclass, dropping over 40 points once again to help his team come out victorious. The Boston Celtics went on to blow this game open and take the win at 139-118 in their favor.
I'm not sure if Grant Williams just hates the Bucks or if he is allergic to playing badly against them, however this man definitely showed up to get the job done last night. Grant was able to regain his stroke from long distance and bury 3-5 clutch shots from 3 point range. Shimmy on young man, you deserve it!
It was a great performance for the full team, Derrick White once again finished with a 20+ net rating leading the team for the second game in a row. White continues to provide this team with what feels like unlimited hustle, heart and determination to play winning basketball.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARCUS SMART ON HIS ENGAGEMENT
In a perhaps not-so-fun initial trick Marcus played on Twitter to his followers, turned into an incredible Christmas engagement surprise. Marcus baited followers into thinking he was gearing up to announce a career or team change, but quickly let everyone know he was talking about his new wife-to-be and his decision to "leave the single life". Congratulations to Marcus!
