On night two of a back to back game stretch, the Celtics ran the Brooklyn Nets out of their own gym, winning 109-98. This makes the Celtics 7-0 with a +12.3 scoring differential when playing in a back to back game. The no rest Celtics are a dominant squad that you don't want a piece of.
Boston has now won the last nine matchups against this Brooklyn team, officially claiming their ownership of the franchise. The Celtics are 6-0 versus the Nets since the infamous "We want Boston" chants filled the Barclays Center at the end of the regular season last year. I don't think any Net's fan will be chanting this for a long time coming.
With their win last night, Boston is now on yet another win streak, currently at five W's in a row. This is the Celtics fourth time this season having a winning streak of four games or more. Over the last two week period, Boston has continued to flex their dominant winning ability and stayed at the top of the NBA standings.
Recap & Takeaways
With Jaylen Brown sidelined due to injury of his adductor, and Al Horford out getting rest, all eyes were on Jayson Tatum to put the weight of the team on his back. This is not however what the basketball universe had in mind for last night. While Tatum still put up a 20 point performance, the main story of last night came from the other Celtics starters and their second unit.
With Al Horford sidelined, Coach Joe Mazzulla started Grant Williams which brought Luke Kornet in early off the bench. Luke did not disappoint, he showed a little bit of everything, even dazzling with a fun reverse jam. He posted 11 points and 5 boards in a hard fought 17 minutes.
Marcus Smart showed his playmaking abilities once again with 10 assists, 2 steals and 16 points of his own, earning himself the "player of the game".
Derrick White had yet another phenomenal block while also contributing big time shots throughout the game, providing at dagger three pointer with a minute to go.
Payton Pritchard has continued to show up, earning more minute opportunities for himself once again. PP posted 9 points and 3 boards and endless hustle that really sped up the Celtics pace.
Malcolm Brogdon was once again lights out, shooting 7-13 with 16 points also providing needed pace to the ball game.
Grant Williams tallied 3 blocks, 12 points and some razzle dazzle on a few fun layups.
Celtics have done a great job in the last set of games moving the ball flawlessly to find the open shooter. They've limited their turnovers and picked apart defenses which has showed why they have the number one offense in the league.
Looking Forward
Up next, the Celtics will continue on the road to Charlotte for two games on this long weekend. Until next time fans, let's go Celtics!
